Large Asteroid Craters Found in Australia

Australia has always been seen as remote. Yet new new things are being discovered about its history. It has been identified as the "target" of one of the world's largest asteroid impacts. Two craters found by Andrew Glikson and his team are thought to have been caused by a large meteor which broke into two pieces. Each crater is 200 kilometers in diameter. One of these craters on its own is larger than the impact in Mexico: the Central American collision wiped out the dinosaurs. It isn't the biggest, however. The Sudbury comet did a great deal of damage, but the world's widest crater is the Vredefort in South Africa. The twin craters in Australia have been flattened out over eons of time. They were found by geothermal research. It appears that asteroid impact covers the Northern Territory, Queensland and South Australia, a very large area. Seismic traverses is going to be applied next. This will hopefully bring new things to light. If the as...

Australia - Proprietor of Absolute Mechanical Beats Elderly Lady to the Ground

I received a disturbing email. I have checked the names of persons involved and the facts. A motor car was taken into Absolute Mechanical, Beerburrum Road, Caboolture, Queensland for the air conditioning to be repaired. The business was off to a bad start by replacing two items in the air conditioning system that were already working perfectly. They couldn't understand why the system was still leaking badly. They then proceeded to remove the dash to test the evaporator. Removal of the dash was unnecessary because the evaporator can easily be checked for leaks by dying the gas, re-gassing and looking up from underneath the vehicle with the car on a hoist. After determining that the evaporator was indeed leaking they decided, "Oh heck we'll stop here the job is too tough." At no stage did the customer tell them not to continue. In hindsight they were incapable of doing the job and should not have taken it on in the first place. They were very capable, however, of handi...

Another Strange Thing on Planet Jupiter

Strange things are happening to the planet Jupiter. A few weeks ago its southern band faded from view. Now there has been a mysterious explosion on its surface. A bright spot was observed for several seconds. Last year's impact created damage on Jupiter that lasted for months. So the latest collision is only minor. It is important news for those who move in "planetary" circles, however. The activity is proven because an observer Anthony Wesley, who discovered last year's impact scar, caught it on video. Another astronomer, Christopher Go, also has video of it. Astronomers have to wait until Jupiter turns on its axis and shows the area again to see if there is lasting damage. Enthusiasts await processing of Anthony Wesley's video to evaluate what actually happened. Christopher Go's Video can be viewed here . http://www.adventure--australia.blogspot.com/ http://www.tysaustralia.blogspot.com/ http://www.feeds.feedburner.com/AdventureAustralia http://www.technorat...
