Chemistry Creates a New Vivid Blue

Chemistry brings forth a new color called YInMn blue (yttrium, indium and manganese). All the colors are known. Well, you just write a computer program, give it a graduated scale of each primary color, then let it hold one color constant while going through all combinations of the other colors. However, making a specific color for a product is a problem. Chemicals are usually combined to produce the required shade. A new vivid shade of blue has been discovered. It is called YInMn blue (yttrium, indium and manganese). It will most likely to be used for plastics and commercial coatings. Created by accident, as most new things are, it will liven up our lives - maybe! Researchers were looking for materials with magnetic properties for use in computer drives. They used "manganese dioxide" as a base and mixed it with other chemicals. Efficient Solar Panel Paint Developed

There is about to be a revolution and it is not wearable technology. A spray on paint to quickly make solar panels has been perfected. The paint's main ingredient is perovskite - a calcium titanium oxide mineral. Furthermore, it costs very little. Soon cheaper solar panels will be flooding out of factory production lines. They will be used everywhere - even on wearables! Perovskite is twice as effective as current spray-on solar collectors. The environment will be "covered all over" with this new effective paint. Every surface facing upward whether on something mobile or static will have this coating. Dramatic change will seen on buildings. Indeed, it will be available in many colors and will become an important part of the designed environment. Battery powered cars will have the paint completely covering the vehicle. Paint to Make Things Invisible

If you move as fast as superman you may be able to make yourself invisible, but for the ordinary person it is just not possible. Theories exist though that "prove" it is possible to make yourself invisible. Doctor Jensen Li and Professor John Pendry have written a paper which surmises making invisible paint. Such material has to be extremely thin, having a structure smaller than the wavelength of visible light. Scientists have already made a small object invisible by cloaking it in a material comprised of tiny structures. If a material can be developed from nano-sized pieces it could be painted on an object and it would "bend" the light away from sight, i.e., the background would be visible. Such a material has to be made from silica and silicon because variation in interpreting light is necessary. A person viewing a cloaked object would see a mirage of the background.
