PayPal and eBay Cover up Seller Scam

You can be conned on eBay.  Con artists have found a way to trick the eBay sales monitoring system.  A seller sets up an account and puts an item on sale.  He/she displays a "ticker" that says 10 are sold out of 50.  Of course, this is a lie. There are none for sale. The seller closely watches payments being made online. When he sees a transfer, the item is immediately withdrawn from sale. This item will not show up in the list of purchases on eBay. It will  be in the PayPal list. However, PayPal will not give a refund if there is no record of sale on eBay. There is another reason why eBay and PayPal do not refund your money. The seller is long gone not only withdrawing the product from sale but closing down the account and abandoning the business email address. He cannot be traced.  The ruse is repeated a few months later with the same item so it is easy to do. More and more eBay users are complaining about losing their cash.  Yes, it is u...

Australian Wine Society in Financial Trouble

HEALTH It seems just about everybody is investing in vineyards. The wine industry has drawn in big investors and hobbyists. Unfortunately, people do not think before they jump in. They are seeking to fulfill a dream: there is a certain amount of glamour involved in saying I am a wine maker, a vintner. Too much drinking not enough thinking There is a world glut of wine, particularly the cheap ones. Nations have pushed to establish new vineyards. It has the aura of a local car industry or airline. Newcomers enter the industry all the time without doing any research and little training. It is no surprise to hear that the oldest wine club in Australia founded in 1946 is in the red, by a shocking amount. It owes a staggering $4.2 million to its wine producers. It operates as a distributor, buy and selling, though ostensibly not-for-profit. Supermarket chains sell nearly all wine in Australia and in a situation of oversupply they don't pay much for it. These major players ...

Drug Companies and Pharmacists Want More Regulation

It is always a worry when drug manufacturers and pharmacists force themselves on decision-making bodies. Self interest rules both groups. Drug manufacturers want to increase sells and raise prices by " hook or by crook ". Pharmacists want to hold onto their monopoly provided first by a piece of paper provided by a college and secondly by the government paymaster. Pharmacists are like real estate agents - there is one on every street corner. In a competitive market this shouldn't be the case. Skills learned at university in chemistry is never used. Everything today is prepackaged. An unskilled person could do the job. They even want to do the work of doctors extending prescription repeats. The Victorian Pharmaceutical Misuse Summit includes the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. They want to bring in a medication monitoring system to reduce the number of drug overdoses. Being cynical, confiscation would be an ideal tact to increase sales. But aren't over...
