Australia's Rare Mountain Pygmy-Possum

Humans can be such a problem for native wildlife. We build roads over wildlife trails so we can zoom down to the ski fields, not worrying about the native casualties that get squashed along the way.  But humans can also be the solution - as we have been with the endangered Mountain Pygmy-possum ( Burramys parvus ). There are possibly only a few thousand of these amazing animals left in the wild. They live in the snow-covered alpine and subalpine regions of New South Wales and Victoria, above 1400 metres. They are the only Australian mammals found here and nowhere else. For most of the year male and female possums live separate lives scurrying among rook crevices, boulder fields and alpine shrubs. Adult females live in the best locations on rocky slopes. Males live further down the hill. Come breeding time, these males make the hazardous trek across the roadways, attempting to avoid all the human-made obstacles in their way. Only when they have made it to the other side of the road

New Invisible Zipper Hits the Olympics

Technology is moving forward at a rapid pace. One can hardly keep up with new things on offer. Really, people do not have an immediate need for the the new products. New products are absorbed into our lives out of curiosity and the need to keep up with the neighbors. Seams on clothes are something we accept - it is normal. Visible seams are not a problem. Indeed, the seams are used by designers in the latest fashions: they are part of the design. Important sports events are a great platform to launch new ideas. They are on view for the whole world to see. There is no difference between East and West anymore. New products appear across the world at the same time. Russian and American athletes at the 2014 Olympic Games will have waterproof zips built into their outfits. They are almost invisible when closed. This means that in the future parts of different outfits can be joined together to create different variations. Lightrail Zippers are integrated units at th

A Stonehenge Is Found in Australia

The truth is out - Aboriginals studied the stars thousands of years before ancient Europeans. Stonehenge is not the oldest stone construction that marked the summer and winter solstice. The Wadda Wurrung Aboriginals Built an egg-shaped structure of standing basalt stones that marks the solstices and the equinox (when the day has equal hours of night and day). The design of the Aboriginal "stonehenge" is completely different from the stonehenge in England. tops of stones mark the sun's movement in Australia whereas gaps in stones mark the solstices in England. This indicates that Aboriginals who were the first people to leave Africa were much more advanced and knowledgeable than other groups in the world. This knowledge was passed on to the next generation verbally. Europeans when they first arrived branded the Aboriginals as stupid people who could only count up to six - how wrong they were! Though the traditions of the Wadda Wurrung Aboriginals has been lost, songs
