Poor Wage Management by Coalition Government Over Last Five Years

Since the Liberal-National Coalition has been in government it has followed the same policy as Germany and France. That is: keep wages low and restrict welfare. But of course, This reduces spending and puts a brake on the economy. Wealthy businesses benefit from lower wage costs. Two thirds of the population suffer while the top third get rich. The economy of Australia has been stagnant for the last five years compared to other countries. For three consecutive quarters GDP per capita has fallen. Construction is in decline. As the wealthy have become richer they have hoarded their money. They have spent the same each year for the last seven years. Australians generally have become poorer while company have made great profits. Furthermore, the government has brought in laws that stops unionists going on strike. There are massive fines for the unions if they do. Household disposable income has fallen by 0.8 per cent over the last twelve months. Australian disposable income ha

Egyptian Tomb Contains World's Oldest Cheese with Deadly Disease

Say cheese for me. No, you are not having your photograph taken. The world's oldest solid cheese has been found. It is 3,200 years old and was discovered in Egypt. Unfortunately it is diseased and cannot be eaten. The "slab" was owned by the mayor of Memphis Ptahmes in the 13th-century BC. It has been lying around in his tomb all this time. Put in with the official at the time of his death, it was carefully wrapped in canvas. Though it was identified as cheese. Whether it was made from cow, goat or sheep milk is not known. If anyone had eaten it they would have become very ill because it contained the bacterium of the deadly disease brucellosis. The presence of brucellosis have now been pushed back over 3,000 years. It has not been determined if it was a delicacy, maybe used as medicine or the tasty food was commonly consumed as ordinary meals. Dr Greco also identified the most ancient Italian olive oil and the earliest wine. Research continues in the Egyptian tomb

Massacres of Aboriginals Mapped by New Technology

Much of Australia's history since European settlement has been distorted by white historians. In a bid to justify the illegal taekeover of Australian tribal land with no treaty between Aboriginals and the conquerors a lot has been hidden. If settlers moved to what they believed to be virgin land they just took it - with a quiet nod from government, of course. Any hostility from black people already there was quickly silenced at the point of a gun. Yes massacres did occur. New digital technology is now bringing the truth to light. Massacres have been mapped by a research team at Newcastle University. Professor Lyndal Ryan is taking the information to people in regional areas of Australia. The massacre map has come as a shock to purist historians who want to perpetuate the old lies put into print. Their old interpretations were clearly wrong and they do not know where to hide. New arrivals from Europe wanted Aboriginals to disappear entirely from this land. Fortunately,

Potash Production Begins, Lake Wells, Western Australia

Australia begins production of potash. It is a large consumer of the salt, but until now has not produced any of its own. Though resources of the compound have always been available to Australian companies they have never processed it. The Australian Potash company has obtained 3 tonnes of potassium-rich feeder salts from the Lake Wells SOP (sulphate of potash) project. The process facility is near Perth. Production of more of it will be carried out over the next three months. Two Chinese MuO off-take partners have joined the parent company. Lake Wells 180km from Laverton is the source of the compound. There is a chain of evaporative ponds that filter it out of raw material. A research project has been set up by Australian Potash with the School of Agriculture and Environment at the University of Western Australia. The newly produced Australian potash will be tested on various WA soil types. The university product will enable the company to engage with the consumer, namely, Aus

China Sea Strategy Will Lead to War

Chinese leaders are crazy. They actually think that by sinking two U.S. aircraft carriers it will give them total control of the China Sea. It will start a war! Beijing announced its intention saying it had activated the ship killer ballistic missile system. The attack system was introduced in April 2018. China seems to be trigger happy to use it. Deployment is intended to strike vessels passing through the East and China sea. The belief that it can do this with impunity is misplaced. There will definitely be a military response. Two U.S. aircraft carriers have just passed though the disputed region. They are operating under the international rules of the sea which allows free passage of any vessel from any country needing to travel through the area. The American vessels ignored the warnings and threat of Chinese aircraft and warships sent to send them away. Trump has no patience. It seems the Chinese leadership has a patience problem as well. They will have to curb their impetuo

Animals are Evolving to Cope With City Life

You may think humans are changing to adapt to city life. However, animals living in cities are evolving faster. Metabolisms of the little creatures are running hot. In Puerto Rico, anole lizards can travel across concrete due to changes in their feet structure. Charles Darwin did get things wrong. Evolution does not just happen over tens of thousands of years. It is dynamic. Alterations are rapid. PCB (Polychlorinated Biphenyls) levels rise in cities and it will kill some animals. The mummichog fish has quickly evolved to survive the poisonous chemical. The shorter the lifespan of living organisms the faster they evolve. A long-time resident of cities is the European blackbird. It has developed more practical beaks and songs. Moreover, their digestive system can digest food scraps discarded by people. Urban blackbirds no longer migrate. Mosquitoes in the London Underground have changed dramatically. They breed one-on-one, not in the clouds of mozzies in a sexual frenzy like their

Climate Change and Pollution Solved by Higher Taxes

It seems the only way to impact on climate change and reduce pollution is regulation. Such ideas as banning petrol and diesel cars by 2030 will not work, however. People have to learn to live without the luxury of jumping in the car and driving down the road. There must be some form of "punishment" for driving your car. Sure using a bicycle is virtually free. Obviously, punishment is not high enough yet to make you use the bike There is no doubt that the cost of motoring will rise dramatically in the future as countries accept the human cause of an unhealthy planet. This is obvious because even now governments are addicted to taxation. The only real answer to change people's life habits is to make it financially painful to do things that damage the environment. It costs less than $1,000 a year now to register a car. In coming years this will rise to a realistic level of $5,000. It will hurt. Prices in the shops will increase, but the standard of living has to
